DAVID E. ALTSCHUL

David E. Altschul is a highly respected entertainment attorney with decades of experience representing leading artists, songwriters, producers, executives, and companies across the global music business. He is a partner at Altschul Olin & Vandergast, LLP, where his practice focuses on entertainment law, music industry transactions, recording agreements, publishing rights, licensing, intellectual property, artist representation, management agreements, and complex business affairs involving the worldwide music industry.

Throughout his career, David has represented an exceptional roster of internationally recognized artists and music industry clients. Representative clients include Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham, Jeff Lynne, Billy Idol, Tom Holkenborg, Richard Marx, and a range of independent companies involved in recordings, music publishing, and personal management.

Prior to opening the offices of his current law firm in 2003, David spent 21 years at Warner Bros. Records Inc., one of the most influential record labels in modern music history. During his tenure, he served as Vice Chairman and General Counsel, with responsibility for supervising the company’s business and legal affairs. In that role, he helped oversee major entertainment transactions, artist agreements, licensing matters, rights issues, business affairs, and legal strategy during a significant era in the global recorded music industry.

Over the course of his career, David has developed a reputation as a trusted legal advisor to major creative talent and music companies, with deep expertise in recording industry operations, music publishing, intellectual property rights, artist negotiations, entertainment finance, catalog and rights management, and high level transactional matters involving world class talent and entertainment assets.

David graduated from Amherst College, summa cum laude, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his law degree from Yale Law School, one of the nation’s leading legal institutions.
