GREG KNIGHT
Partner
Greg Knight is a transformational industrial technology executive and strategic operator with more than two decades of leadership experience scaling advanced manufacturing, energy, semiconductor materials, precision engineering, and next-generation industrial technology businesses. Widely recognized for his ability to lead complex turnarounds, reposition distressed organizations, and build long-term enterprise value, Knight has developed a reputation as one of the most accomplished operational leaders across the advanced industrial and energy-transition sectors.
Knight currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Enbi Group, a global manufacturer of specialty precision rollers, engineered insulation systems, and advanced industrial components serving the automation, commercial printing, HVAC, automotive, and energy efficiency markets. Operating manufacturing facilities across the United States, Europe, and Asia, Enbi supplies mission-critical engineered solutions into highly demanding industrial environments. Knight was recruited to lead the company through a major operational transformation, stabilize performance, restore profitability, optimize global manufacturing operations, and position the enterprise for long-term strategic growth and successful exit opportunities.
Prior to Enbi, Knight served as Chief Executive Officer of Kellenberger, a globally recognized manufacturer of ultra-high precision CNC grinding and turning systems with operations spanning Europe, North America, and Asia. Knight was selected to lead one of the industry’s most challenging restructurings, guiding the company through a highly distressed period that included a U.S. bankruptcy process while simultaneously stabilizing international operations. Under his leadership, the company successfully emerged from bankruptcy in just 43 days, rapidly rebuilt global supply chains, consolidated manufacturing operations, relaunched its worldwide sales organization, restructured product strategy, and restored profitability across all global business units. His leadership transformed the company from operational distress into a stabilized and growth-oriented precision manufacturing enterprise.
Knight is perhaps best known for his leadership as President and Chief Executive Officer of GT Advanced Technologies, a pioneering advanced materials and semiconductor technology company serving the electric vehicle, solar, aerospace, defense, and power electronics industries. GT Advanced Technologies became widely recognized for its work in silicon carbide materials, sapphire technologies, and next-generation power semiconductor applications critical to the future of electrification and energy infrastructure. When Knight assumed leadership, the company was emerging from bankruptcy and undergoing significant strategic uncertainty. Over the course of five years, he successfully repositioned GT Advanced Technologies from a cyclical capital equipment provider into a vertically integrated advanced materials company focused on high-growth silicon carbide production for the rapidly expanding EV and power electronics markets. Under his leadership, the business achieved substantial operational expansion, strategic repositioning, and significant shareholder value creation, ultimately culminating in the company’s acquisition by onsemi in a transaction valued at approximately $415 million. The transformation generated approximately a twelve-fold return for investors and positioned GT Advanced Technologies as an important supplier within the global electrification ecosystem.
Throughout his career, Knight has consistently operated at the forefront of critical industrial and technology transitions, including advanced semiconductors, precision manufacturing, clean energy systems, automation technologies, electric vehicles, and industrial electrification. His leadership experience spans complex multinational operations, factory optimization, strategic restructuring, supply chain transformation, advanced materials commercialization, and global manufacturing scale-up. He has led organizations with global manufacturing footprints, highly technical engineering teams, and sophisticated operational infrastructures serving demanding international markets.
In addition to his executive leadership responsibilities, Knight serves on the boards of several advanced technology and energy companies. His current board positions include NASDAQ-listed Ideal Power, Allied Graphite, Brillouin Energy, and Enbi Group. His board and advisory work spans advanced materials, clean energy, power electronics, industrial manufacturing, and emerging technology commercialization, where he provides expertise in corporate governance, operational scaling, strategic growth, and industrial execution.
Knight also serves as Executive Chairman of Brillouin Energy, a pioneering clean energy company focused on the commercialization of Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR) technologies for industrial thermal energy generation. Brillouin Energy is developing proprietary Hydrogen Hot Tube™ reactor systems and Q-Pulse™ control technologies designed to provide scalable, zero-emission thermal energy solutions for industrial process heat, distributed energy systems, critical infrastructure, and future AI-driven power demand requirements. Knight’s appointment reflects his deep expertise in industrial scale-up, manufacturing execution, and commercialization of breakthrough technologies. Under expanded leadership and strategic capital support, Brillouin Energy has transitioned from laboratory research into integrated pilot manufacturing and development operations focused on accelerating commercialization readiness.
Earlier in his career, Knight served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy nuclear power program following his graduation from Cornell University’s ROTC program. He completed formal engineering and nuclear systems training through the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School and served as a Chemistry and Radiological Controls Officer. His military background helped shape the disciplined operational leadership style, technical rigor, and systems-oriented execution philosophy that have become hallmarks of his executive career.
Knight earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Cornell University and completed advanced nuclear engineering training through the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power School. Today, he is widely regarded as a highly respected industrial strategist, operator, and transformational leader whose experience spans advanced manufacturing, semiconductor materials, energy infrastructure, defense-related technologies, and the commercialization of next-generation industrial systems.
